Appreciation Day 9/28

I have joined the backpack brigade.

After complaining about a sore back, my daughter suggested I try using a small backpack on my days off and travel days to alleviate the stress on my shoulders.

And now I love my backpack!

Appreciation Day 7/28

This year, one of my goals is to finish the entire Harry Potter series – seven books in total.

My daughter has been trying to convince me for years to read them.

I finally started at the end of last year, and so far am really enjoying it!

The joy of reading is something that I appreciate.

Even in the age of Netflix, it’s still a wonderful feeling to curl up in bed with a good you don’t want to put down.

Countdown to 2018 – Gratitude Doodles – #1 Grad to Pro

Less than 50 days.

Before make resolutions and celebrate the new year, let’s make a gratitude list of 2017.

Top of my list.

My daughter will finish university this year and step into a new phase of her life.

I am thankful that her hard work has been rewarded.

That she is a down to earth young woman.

That she has found new passions and overcome challenges in this past year.

That she has emerged a champion and a young Wonder Woman.

I drew a doodle of how I imagine her as a YO-PRO!

Treat Yo Self Part II

“Students are the hardest working people on this planet.” – according to students.

They deserve every mini celebration!

This post features my daughter Nadia who is *working hard* on her university final exams.

With a special appearance from Wellington the Bear, a trusty long time companion.

Guess How Much I Love You

My Dearest Nadia

Happy 23rd Birthday.

“I love you right up to the moon – and back.”

Fierce Mama

Yesterday I was Snapchatting my daughter.
I still had my curlers in my hair and was making all sorts of faces.
(As you do, when Snapchatting …)

There was one photo where I thought I looked pretty fierce.
A selfie that was “shareworthy”, if there is even such a word.

Once I posted it on Facebook, I got lots of LIKES and my friends commented on how the photo is very “ME”.

It was interesting to know how my friends perceived me.
And I thought I’d make a doodle version of it.
And also share it here on my blog.

Fierce Mama with curlers on and ready to take on the world!

3rd October, 2013 – Hang out with me!

My daughter has a slight cold.
She has been taking some medicine for it.
And it has a strange effect on her…

She keeps asking me to “hang out” with her….

Not that I don’t like hanging out with her, but it’s just cute and funny the way she does it.
Like a big baby wanting extra affection.
I guess when you’re sick, you want some extra tender loving attention.
Perhaps that’s what her “hanging out” means?

When was the last time you “hung out” with a loved one?
Do YOU ask for some hanging out time when you need it?
I know I for one need to learn to ask for some more.

Hope everyone is healthy.
Take care as the season changes.

With love,

Day 340-342 ~ May 9-11, 2013

I am thankful for my mother’s love.

I am thankful for my daughter’s love.

I am thankful for my niece’s love.

I am thankful that I am a mother.

I am thankful that I am a daughter.

It’s been a beautiful weekend and I am thankful.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Vice Mum

My daughter’s friend Bronte has stayed with us for one month.

One New Year’s Eve, Bronte and I shared a tender “mother/daughter” moment when she wished me happy new year, thanked me for her time here in Hong Kong and then she gave me the title of “vice mum”.

My imagination got carried away as I immediately associated the word vice with… Miami Vice, the vice squad, vice crimes…

And I wondered if I had really corrupted her over the past month?!

Turns out, it was of course a lot more innocent.
