Pineapple

I often ask people, if you were a fruit, what would you be?

In a previous (actually rather long ago now…) post, I said I’d be a grape.

Soft on the outside, but my core is tiny yet tough, almost unbreakable.

Pineapples on the other hand, are rough on the outside, sweet on the inside.

They stand tall and wear a beautiful crown.

This post is dedicated to my daughter, who has a fondness for pineapples.

In spite of it all… Stand tall!

Some days, you just have to choose.

Choose to stand tall.

Choose to smile.

And while you’re at it, sit tall as well.

You will feel instantly better in spite of it all!

(You can see the “concept” drawing of this post on my YouTube Channel at Stand Tall.)

YouTube Channel – A Life So Luminous

I am going to do regular videos of my drawing process.

These will be posted on the A Life So Luminous YouTube channel which you can subscribe to and share with your friends.

Let me know how you like them and what more you’d like to see!

My Sea to Your Shore

Like sea to the shore.

High tide, low tide.

Up close. Far away.

Ebb and flow.

Love is knowing that there are bright days and dark nights.

Love is knowing that oceans exist because there are shores.

What’s your word?

Last week I posted my daughter’s word for her 2017 – shine.

Then my friend Fen commented that her word for 2017 is “kindness”.

So here is a doodle for Fen, and everyone else who would like to make kindness a daily habit, a way of life, and their religion.

Melancholia or Humidity?

Summer.

Rainy hot humid season.

Not my favourite.

Other people find Autumn and Winter melancholic.

Summer depresses me.

The heat. The humidity. The heaviness in the air.

It’s hard to breathe.

Like wading through a fog. My head feels thick.

I’d rather have the heavy rain from last week.

Thankfully the forecast is for rain this weekend.

Please let it POUR.

Tired – Day 98 – September 25, 2014

6:00 wake up
6:45 breakfast
7:30 preparation
8:00 workshop starts
17:00 workshop ends
17:30 dinner
18:20 headache sets in
19:00 depart hotel
20:30 train delayed
22:00 train leaves Guangzhou (finally)
24:00 arrive Hong Kong (finally)
00:30 shower, painkillers
00:50 bed, half dead

I was grateful for the amazing workshop though.
A powerful storytelling circle.
A group of genuine young people.
A transformative experience.

That’s why I was so tired.

An Unexpected Call – Day 99 – 24 September 2014

Traveling in China means Internet challenges.
It’s impossible to log onto blogging sites, WordPress being one of them.

So I am posting my daily doodles belatedly.
This one was done after an arduous journey from Macau – Zhuhai – Guangzhou.
I was not in the mood for drama but drama was what I got.

15th July, 2013 – Thankfulness

Thank you for…
1. Being there for me.
2. Understanding.
3. Your love and friendship.

No more excuses, I only have solutions and plans.

Reclaiming my health.
Setting new goals.
Making changes.

Every day is a good day for making a difference.
